Meet the contestants of Olive Leaphy's Bachelorette Challenge!

Dear Mrs. Goldstein,

I wanted to write and tell you how sorry I am about Jake’s passing. We’ve all been reeling here, trying to make sense of it. Ultimately, there’s very little sense to be made. A terrible thing has happened to a very good person, and there’s no greater tragedy than that. I’m sure you’re feeling his loss deeply and I hope you’ll find comfort in knowing that we’re thinking of him here at Hogwarts.

I first met Jake at the start of term. It was a time when we were all unsure of ourselves and trying to find our place here. Nonetheless, Jake greeted me with a smile. He made me feel understood and included. We chatted freely and honestly with one another. Jake clearly loved you all dearly. He was a doting older brother who spoke of missing Nate and Peggy. As a sister, I can’t imagine the absence your children are feeling.

While the world isn’t always a very tolerant place, Jake was an exception. His course of study speaks volumes about his curiosity for the world and how readily he would welcome it with open arms. Jake eagerly asked questions about what muggle life was like, meeting unknowns with wonder rather than scorn. His perspective was refreshing and necessary in times like these. 

That brisk autumn hike through the Hogwarts grounds is a memory with Jake and of my first few weeks here that I’ll cherish. I feel lucky to have met him. Jake shared that you and Peggy are fans of muggle music, so I’ve enclosed a copy of Try to Remember by The Brothers Four. It reminds me of that afternoon with Jake and that there are brighter days to come.

Please give my best to your husband, Nate and Peggy.
