mm. I know I talk a lot about Romance(tm), but having another aro person as a friend is honestly helping me think about my characters in a more.. platonic way? how they are a friends, I mean
Sane Jack's an extremely loyal, call-me-and-I'll-drop-everything-and-go kind of friend. That is, if he actually considers you a friend. If you can manage to break through his walls, you have an easy "get out of jail free" card. Shitty time at a party? Need a ride? Actually in jail? Weapons? Money? Need someone to knock your ex's teeth in? A couch to sleep on? He's got you covered. Even if you're a little too prideful to admit that you need help. He isn't the best at reading emotions, but he'll try his best to be a shoulder to cry on. Jack also takes a LARGE amount of pride in being able to make his friends crack a smile. My man will do the dumbest shit just to get a laugh out of you.
But because of how much Jack loves to prop up his friends, trusting them with 100% certainty, it's also VERY easy to abuse his friendship. He's too complacent and used to the signs to do much of anything. He really doesn't want to risk leaving you high and dry. You can trample all over him- he won't do ANYTHING. The only exception is if you cross HIS sense of a line and start going after his family or other friends.
Edgar's pretty similar to Jack in how he views friendship, albeit he's much more desperate. The man does NOT have friends. He's terrified of chasing you off. He naturally takes up more of a provider role, wanting to support you as much as possible, but if you reassert your boundaries, he'll back off. As soon as you're a friend, you're family. Edgar's definitely the kind of person you'd want to go to for advice (sorry Jack)- as long as it isn't anything like "how do I be social". He's also much better of a listener than Jack is. Where Jack fails on the sensitivity front, Eddie picks it right up like second nature.
Red's a very lax, very chilled kind of friend. He's the kind of person you can sit side-by-side with, not interact with him, and he considers that to be bonding time. He isn't as fiercely loyal as Jack or Edgar, but he has a good heart, and does his best to help (if he has the energy). If you have the time, get used to late nights talking, going on drives, or watching scenery with him. Maybe crack open a beer and talk about last night's game.
Hey, listen it’s fine, you’re paying me under the table to install a bunch of scaffolding around this mountain on a planet that’s next to another planet that’s protected by the prime directive and it says on my business card there ‘no questions asked’ but, like, you sure you want me to double bolt this stuff in case of an accident? you’re really not saving that much money....ohkay. Your call.
i really want to write but my head is like “blerrggh” and my eyes are like *falling whistle noise*
Last time I was this pissed off I sat in a car for nine hours and headed for another state, goodness knows what I'll end up doing this time
