Moonlight reflected off of white fur as the great beast remained at guard over his master. Sharp blue eyes monitored the surroundings, tall tip twitching now and again while listening to the sounds of the broken world around them. Byakkomaru would not allow anything to inflict harm upon Shinya, human, demon, or vampire, or anything else for that matter.
It wasn’t uncommon for Byakkomaru to manifest outside the weapon, but many times (now included), he remained visible only to Shinya’s eyes. It was an abnormal characteristic of the demon, to manifest outside his weapon, but the tiger demon was already a strange demon on multiple fronts.
His head turned when he saw Shinya begin to stir in apparent distress in his sleep. His head lowered, warm fur pressing against the crook of his neck in a reassuring gesture. “Shinya.” He spoke in a calm manner, to help soothe him. “It’s alright.” Another gentle nudge was given to rouse him from his sleep.
