All We Ever Wanted* Was Everything
I never do this, but I just scrolled down through the contents of our (Sis and [Redacted]’s) four...? five...? year on tumblr? I found a shitload of notes from what was first menacingly awful vitriolic manbabies and then became increasingly clearly poorly programmed bots...programmed to shit talk like manbabies. That was interesting. Little time capsule there. I found mostly beautiful treasures from the past in the inbox, stretching further back than I expected, somehow. I deny the power of the word cringe, so I will just say that some of them filled me with pride while some made me appreciate how far I’ve come, or just remind me of the first blush of passion for justice, which is as embarrassingly earnest as the beginning of love should be. But I noticed that like, once a year, I’ve written a letter to Wil Wheaton. Just a love note, an appreciation, something, but with regularity. And as much of an geek as I would spontaneously combust into if we ever communicated reciprocally, it’s just as life-affirmingly gleeful to see that someone who was important to me is Doing a Good Job. So once a year or, so I write a note and publish it here. Bless you, Wil. I think you’re doing great. And it makes me so happy to cheer you on. You really cheered me on when I needed it the most. <3, [Redacted] P.S. - While I know some budding queers in the 90s had Leo, I had Wesley. I’ve loved deeply since then, but never quite so purely. P.P.S.--Erm...This information I did *not* disclose.
P.P.P.S--Although I do hope he’s heard the same kind of thing from enough people in a non-creepy way to receive the good of it, if any. Don’t you hate when the people you love don’t love themselves? Welp, mea culpa. Like I wrote, but in a Racetrack-From-Newsies kind of way, “We was kids togetha.” Anyway, I’ve enjoyed watching his evolution as a writer and I just feel like, yay, good on you, babe. I always wanted you to win!

Re: his revisions of All We Ever Wanted Was Everything G*DDAMN BOY YOU ARE BRAVE;we were kids together;there was that terrible time when we both had the worst depression & anxiety; the time I cried to learn someone who had given me so much joy, such a sense of meaning and belonging, was exploited;long before the internet would make geek cool;back when it HURT so much to be a teen, like it ALWAYS hurts to be a teen, you were important to me;you still are;I'm looking for the courage to begin;I think it's fucking awesome that you just fucking DID. <3
