Dancer Hawks

You are so right about Hawks’ dancer body!! ✨ Listen, for the longest time, when I thought of Hawks’ physique, I immediately went to Jimin’s (from BTS) physique as reference.

Noticeably built upper body, pinched waist, slim legs, little ankles. And wouldn’t you know? Jimin has a very strong contemporary dance background and is acrobatic as hell. My mental image of Hawks’ is strongly, strongly tied to dance.

I love the idea of Hawks having some ballet training for practical reasons! I don’t think the HPSC would have held back any resources on him; so just imagine baby Keigo getting a few months of ballet lessons to improve his balance and limberness, thinking it’s fun, but having to walk away from it after the HPSC decides the ballet has done its job and ushers him on to something else :( 

I really, really want Hawks to have some hobbies, and my little heart quakes over him doing ballet in his free time, but something tells me that he doesn’t have time for that kind of stuff 😔 I will forever keep child!Hawks doing ballet tucked away in my heart...!  

Even if Hawks hasn’t had any dance training, I’m sure he would’ve been very good at it; he has the body strength, coordination, and discipline. Ballerinas sometimes look like they’re suspended in the air, and I kind of love the image of Hawks flying like that uwu

Dancer AUs

AUs where Hawks is a professional dancer are 👌💯mm!✨👀 because with his work ethic, commitment, passion, and endurance for physical training, he’s the perfect candidate for the notoriously competitive industry of professional dance. I haven’t seen many fanarts or fanfictions of it which is an absolute crime! 

I think ballet suits Hawks well, and I love the thought of him being a jumper in AUs where he doesn’t have wings. He’d leap so high and look like he’s floating! A little red swan ❤️🦢 But I also like the idea of him doing contemporary or street dance. He exudes versatility to me, what do you think?

Can I bring up FigureSkater!Hawks here too? Again, a profession that requires an unbelievable amount of commitment, and I want to see the pretty bird work hard and succeed. hmm this pattern... i sure do love imagining Keigo putting his incredible passion and diligence into something completely innocent and harmless ;_; He’d be known for his jumps, of course! His air time would be something else, quads everywhere, a skater that is not only artistic but also athletic as all hell. Actually, I’d love to make an entire MHA Figure Skating AU, but my classes are starting soon, and time is slipping away 😔

Additional associations between Hawks and dancers! 

Professional ballerinas are known for dedicating their youths to training for a relatively brief professional career (most ballerinas retire before age 40). If this doesn’t sound like the birdie... Hawks spent almost his entire life training for hero work, and if the “too fast for his own good” motif persists, his career (and/or life ;u;) might end before he’s even 25. 

There’s also this quote by Martha Graham, a legendary American dancer:

“A dancer dies twice—once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful.”

I immediately thought of this quote when the idea of Hawks losing his wings and his hero career first came up after 271. Not that Hawks loves his job the same way ballerinas love dancing, but helping others is his purpose, and it is so painfully important to him. Having to retire would be devastating for Hawks, his first death. Hero work is his whole life; when he can no longer do what he’s dedicated his life training to do, when his body just isn’t the same anymore and his purpose is gone, it’s a death.
