All of the CHESIREs who hated on and still hate on (G)I-DLE, saying that CLC deserves what they have and such, all ignored PENTAGON and the fact that they had many more comebacks than CLC, despite debuting afterwards, including a full-length album this year, along with their official lightstick only a year after a debut as well as their official colours. Of course, no CHESIRE mentions this when talking about CLC’s mismanagement. They and ANTIs just use it as an excuse to hate on (G)I-DLE or whatever.
But when it comes to comebacks and such, by far, (G)I-DLE and PENTAGON get more than CLC, and do you know what both of these groups have in common? Majority of their songs are self-produced or written, which is not really a thing within CLC- they do have Yeeun helping to write some of their songs and such- but otherwhise, the girls don’t seem to really put their foot in it when it comes to those kinds of things, whereas (G)I-DLE and PENTAGON have their members constantly churning out songs or talking about writing songs which is probably why they have more comebacks and such. The same goes for BTOB, when the members come together to have a comeback, it’s usually produced by mainly Ilhoon and then sometimes other members help.
CLC definitely deserve better than what they’re currently getting but I don’t understand why it’s always (G)I-DLE’s fault or because of (G)I-DLE. Perhaps they’re CUBE’s main-focus now but that’s just the norm for companies when they debut new groups- Especially when said new group becomes a lot more popular than their older groups. Point is, CUBE tried for CLC for three years, to no avail, giving them around 9 EPs from 2015-2018, until their next EP in 2019. That was two EPs in 2015, four EPs (Including two Japanese ones) in 2016, two in 2017, one in 2018 and then one in 2019, which was “NO.1”, which peaked in Korea at 4 and got them their first win.
The title-track of “NO.1” was “NO”, and was written and produced largely by Soyeon. So whilst the credit goes to the girls for their immense hard-work and incredible perseverance, doesn’t Soyeon also deserve some credit? She worked hard, even gifting the entire song to CLC so much so that she doesn’t get any money from the song and even then, people still pin CLC’s unpopularity (But they’re significantly more popular now, thankfully!!) on CUBE’s focus on (G)I-DLE, which isn’t it. They’re doing much better after (G)I-DLE debuted than they were before (I’m not saying it correlates with (G)I-DLE’s debut just that it happened afterwards-), getting better treatment and such too.
But I wrote this opinion because it made me laugh at how CHESIREs and ANTIs hated on (G)I-DLE, even now, two years after their debut, despite the fact that even PENTAGON were getting better promotions and such. It just didn’t add up.
