The Vrix
The Vrix are a red bug-like alien species. They operate on a hivemind led by the many queens of the species.
Queens lay two kinds of eggs
The more common egg hatches into drones, smaller(About 4'10) "weak"(Yet strong enough to tear a human in half) and numerous
The less common egg hatch into something called a carrier, these seem like very small bugs but when they find a host they take over to become strong, fast, deadly beings called Dregs. Based on the dna of the host, so they can look different if the queen has amassed a lot through her trips to different planets.
But sometimes things turn out differently when a carrier finds a host. Some unknown process can occur to make what is called an Abstract. These beings are many times stronger on a base level than Dregs, they still retain the personality of the being they were before, and they gain a unique power and look. They still follow the orders of the hivemind(Except for one exception) and act as captains of dreg units.
Their goals on each planet are still unknown, but they're never there for a good reason.
