eliphas had that mindset that like . purity without chaos made things stronger & alkaphrah knew that was bullshit but he uses this form ( the one that was supposedly strongest according to eliphas logic ) to wipe the floor with mizar , then he uses his real body to piledrive yuuma , astral , & nasch on an even more devastating level than he wrecked mizar ... until they pull off their crazy combo move . all of this was also a massive flex on eliphas , who had to DIE to even throw off the duel so yuuma , astral , & nasch even had a chance . 

honestly the shit alkaphrah does to show how much he hates eliphas is ABSOLUTELY WILD . 

adaliz was not only the rightful king by birth order , but the gods considered him the rightful king because he has the qualities to be a king . like somnus lucis caelum , he has charisma , he had the trust of the military , he could make the hard choices necessary for a king to make . things like making sacrifices for the greater good . for the benefit of the future . did this make adaliz the best person ? no . his pragmatic nature made the commonfolk feel like they couldn’t relate to him . he was the sun , brilliant & burning . 

but , yvon was soulful & kind . yvon’s bond was with latias — the first one , as there were others in the future . latias responds to emotions . to kindness . of the two brothers , most people would immediately jump into yvon’s arms if they had to choose between them . but much as ardyn lucis caelum was a saint , his kindness made him ineffective . yvon wouldn’t be able to make the hard choices . he also didn’t want to be king . 

so , why did adaliz literally destroy kalos if his brother didn’t want to have the throne ? when he knew the gods chose him , that he was the true king ? well , adaliz didn’t really know how to trust all of that 100% . so he knew , but did he believe it all ? no . that , & adaliz’ patron , solgaleo , wasn’t always around ( although , historians say that the white pyroar was an extension of solgaleo , this wasn’t a total lie , but he only became an extension later ) . but yvon had latias around all the time . 

that , & the ‘ saint of kalos ’ , scion yrisviel , favored yvon in general as a person . she didn’t think he was meant to be king , she fought for adaliz to be king , but she still otherwise favored yvon . so adaliz ended up jealous . that jealousy turned into hate & led to the greatest tragedy in the history of kalos . 

or , what does antioch like doing in magic anyway

of hogwarts subjects , his favorites were defense against the dark arts ( salazar’s ) & transfiguration ( his father’s ) . antioch has always been the sorta fighty type , would go to war for his family , LITERALLY KILLED SOMEONE who tried to attack ignotus & by this i mean it was like 20 years ago antioch , you were 10 when it happened & iggy probably doesn’t even remember it probably & you tracked the man down to kILL HIM ? with the elder wand ??? anyway , antioch was very into the dueling magic , because that was his thing . fighting . rule #1 is don’t talk about fight club , not that hogwarts had one ... but if it did ... antioch was the champion . 

antioch was a wandmaker ! so he got really into wandlore when he was a teenager , & yes , he was tutored by the ollivander family . i mentioned in the elder wand post that antioch’s wands are all made to bring out the full abilities of their chosen witch or wizard , & so the wands he made are highly prized . 

she didn’t come to his bar by coincidence and that’s why he follows her. he trails her by just a few seconds, doesn’t waste time, because he’s so deeply curious. could be business – probably not. elizabeth is slowly figuring herself out, her freedom and the things she’s capable of, and rio is aware he’s a tool for her in that way – he readily accepts this. so he lets her lead. closes the door and leans back against it, static and benign. it’s up in the air and he’s prepared to roll with what she gives him - presumably a desire for more cash or jobs - but instead she wordlessly steps closer. rio isn’t entirely surprised. the tension has always been palpable, not to mention she’s not too hard for him to read. he’s quick to mirror her, stand up straight-backed and nose to nose to match her intention. so that she knows he’s right there with her. still, he waits.
