He threads the earring through the newly-cleaned hole in Abirama's right earlobe, doing so from behind to get around the mask. When he's done, a small, fang-shaped piece of bone, carved from the very tip of the large incisor Abi had brought him for his birthday, hangs against his cheek for his own.
Why he allows Grimmjow to do these things to him, heāll never understand.Ā Ā
Why he trusts that a split second of pain would not lead to more, or perhaps worse, is beyond him, but whatever the reason heād sat still and let Grimmjow maneuver as needed to pierce the lobe and in the end, secure his apparent birthday gift into place.Ā Much of it remains hidden beneath the mask, but he knows itās there. He feels it against his skin, in the added weight in his ear, in the way catches on the bony plate veiling it. Not something he ever thought heād be wearing, but now that he is, he canāt imagine being without.
He cannot help but dip beneath the mask to run his fingers over its form, immediately catching the shape of a fang not unlike that which heād given Grimmjow the month before.Ā āYou didnātā¦ā He turns slowly toward Grimmjow, and for a split second, finds himself unable to meet those eyes. No, Grimmjow didnāt have to do it. Surely no one knew that better than the man himself, yet there he was, doing it anyway.Ā There IS a question of why the Espada might care to do it, but that is soon overshadowed. Grimmjow gave him something. For his birthday, no less. Something that appeared to have been designed personally, if not crafted as well. Maybe heās mistaken on that assumption, but it sure as hell seemed that way and thatās good enough for him.Ā Needless to say, he loves it. Again, itās a modification and adornment he never thought heād have, but that makes no difference. Soon heās practically beaming at Grimmjow ⦠but there isĀ one small issue, as his opinion is not the only one to consider.Ā Ā
Would Lord Baraggan ā¦?Ā Ā
For a second his enthusiasm dampens.Ā Wide eyes, still yet to leave Grimmjow, falter, softening as the thought really hits him.Ā What ifā¦what if his lord did not approve of it? What if he really didnāt like it, or worse, ordered Abirama to remove it?Ā It breaks his heart to think of that, but it is a possibilityā¦.
Yeah, well, thatās a bridge to cross when it comes.Ā Right now he has time to enjoy it, so he wonāt go spoiling the moment with worrisome thoughts that may or may not have grounds.Ā Give him a second to shake it off and that excited gratitude is right back in place.Ā āYou really didnāt have to do thatā¦but thank you, Grimmjow.ā
