things to think about um, if you’d like to consider this, please um, consider when you make a post whether you want it to be all-gif or all-stills

that’s weird wording, isn’t it? let me try to explain -

photosets that contain one or more gifs work with an xkit feature that pauses them. personally great for me who gets headaches looking at lots of motion! probably great for people with many other types of levels of comfort and disabilities! and if we want to see the gifs, we can ‘unpause’ them! nice!

but, this feature doesn’t work (by this i mean, none of the gifs pause at all) if at least one still image is in the photoset. exactly One still image incorporated in a gif photoset will make it unable to pause. it makes it difficult to have a choice in/control over what content people need to be safe from. it’s an accessibility issue!

images can stay still even if you save them as a gif. it’s true! if you’re making a photoset, and many of the images are moving images, please make All of them saved as gifs. that way, the xkit feature can work for those of us it’s intended for. aaand ty for reading
