The panic is subdued, it is not quashed.
This is why I didn’t read Murtagh earlier btw it makes me worry for what Paolini has in mind for Arya and Firnen and his 13-14 IRL year silence from them has me doing that gif of a horror movie woman thrashing around throwing white stuff everywhere because I just…I need them to be okay. I need them to be okay and I need Arya to be able to a have a time in her life where everything isn’t self sacrifice for her people and she gets to be happy for herself and for Firnen. I need her to have peace of her own making and own choice, a kind of peace she enjoys and can live free and fill her time with whatever she and Firnen want to do for themselves. If that truly means serving as monarch (which please please paolini no please no I cannot align her doing that of complete free will without that overbearing sense of duty and self sacrifice let her be herself freely–) then so be it. But please. It took me a long, LONG time to come to terms with Arya having feelings for Eragon.
Please find a way for them to be happy? Like I donno why this drives me so emotionally insane. Arya spent 70+ years pushing herself, putting duty and self sacrifice above all else, and even though she did this of her own choice…I cannot see the taking of the throne not something she was pressured into by people using that sense of duty and self sacrifice to guilt/manipulate/push her into it.
Just…after 70 years of war and pain and a life lived…can you please find a way for Arya, FÃrnen, Eragon and Saphira to be happy together? Please? Mr Paolini?
