The first flight under the control of captain Valentine Baker (Valentine Henry Baker) was made on August 3, 1942. At the tenth test flight, September 12, after take off, there was a breakdown of the engine's gas distribution mechanism, and the thrust was gone; Captain Baker tried to make a forced landing, but caught the ground with a wing and, turning over, caught fire. Baker was seriously injured and passed away. the project was cancelled.
