Gilbert who’s religion is still deeply rooted in how he lives and how he sees the world so, when living in Ivan’s house, starts to associate every little thing that causes Ivan to lash out or become upset with "sins" because in both cases, a lot of the time they’re objectively morally harmless things that have to be punished for completely arbitrary reasons and have to be answered for in front of an all powerful entity that has the capacity to punish you unless you grovel for forgiveness before it happens 💡
