Girl at anwara f6 r8 fm29a by Shahidul Alam Via Flickr: It was the cyclone in 1991. The girl Sufia in Anwara, was an orphan and had lost all her family members. I saw her sitting in front of where her home had been and wondered what would happen to this orphan child. I needn't have worried. One doesn't stay an orphan for long in rural Bangladesh. She was soon taken into another family. The generosity of the poor has always amazed me. Those who have little to feed themselves always find enough to feed another. The picture was part of a spread we did on survivors, for the New York Times. Chittagong District. Bangladesh Photo: Shahidul Alam/Drik/Majority World
