frankly, he was surprised it hadn't happened sooner - running into his ex-fiancé, that is - but he supposed disappearing to another continent for a few months had probably done most of the heavy lifting for him in that department. as easy as it might have been - and as much as he'd considered it, however, staying in paris for the rest of his life just wasn't an option. he had to return to the real world eventually, even if it meant returning to the messes he'd created in his sprint down the wrong direction of the aisle. it would have been a little better if he'd been able to arrange this reunion on his own terms, but, apparently, the universe was fed up with waiting, which is how he found himself standing face to face with his ex-fiancé, nothing separating them but the bar he now worked behind. "...strawberry daiquiri?" arguably not the two words that should have been the first ones out of his mouth, but blaine's usual drink order was something that fell off his tongue far more easily than 'i'm sorry' ever had.

But more than any of that, if he went on a date or gave hookup culture a try, he’d have to admit his marriage was over. Obviously, it was and he knew that. But it still didn’t feel real. He’d dealt with the direct aftermath alone in London, a place he had never shared with Blaine even when they were married. Now that he was back, he was adjusting to being single in New York again and coming to full terms with his divorce was not an option yet. Dating wasn’t on the table.

Why did everyone Kurt knew in the city have to be here tonight, though? it wasn’t all bad, he had to admit. Drinking with Santana Lopez had been an unexpected twist that he was thoroughly enjoying, even if he knew he’d regret it tomorrow. He was starting to regret it now, with how many times he’d needed to use the bathroom. Leaving the restroom, he turned around the corner to go back to the bar where he’d been sitting, when he ran into someone. “Oh my god, I’m so sorry!” He exclaimed, backing up before he realized he’d just run into his exhusband! His expression quickly dropped as he realized Blaine was likely here for the speed dating event. “Blaine! ....How have you been?” He asked carefully, planning on working his way up to seeing if Blaine was dating again or not. @blaineandersnyc​
