Snooping
It was the first of her scheduled nights in at the Bryant estate, and the house was quiet. She didn’t know exactly what time it was, but she assumed it was somewhere in the early hours of the day; the sun had yet to rise, but Alrick had kept her up for hours satisfying all of his desires. He had been sleeping soundly when she left him, perfectly relaxed and at ease, to search for... something?Â
Maybe it was silly to seek out secrets without knowing what she was looking for, but she still remembered the state of things from the last time she was here. He was a confident man, very sure of himself, so sure that he didn’t imagine anyone he invited into his home might betray him. Iona quickly tamped down any guilt she might feel towards that; she still hadn’t forgotten his strange reaction to her from the other day, and if she was falling out of favor, she needed to take advantage while she could.Â
Her instincts led her back to what she assumed was his office, the room strewn with papers, so much information just laying about. She was barefoot, her skin rising in goose pimples beneath her wispy night gown in the chilly manor. Closing the door behind her, she found herself in darkness, but it didn’t last long. She flapped her wings, and shook out a pinch of glowing pixie dust. Sprinkling it on a candle, an eerie blue-green flame sprung forth, casting light through the room so she could pore over the all too enticing documents.
