I wanted to be a lot of things, but mostly I just wanted to be famous. I had this image of me being a rock star, lead singer of a punk band. But then I went on to study computer sciences and later in life became a police officer. Strange how life doesn’t turn out the way you thought it would when you were little.

I would much rather lose my old memories. I had a shitty time growing. Maybe not as shitty as other people, but you’re the main character of your own movie, you know? This have been looking up, and the thought of never remembering all the big and little accomplishments my son makes growing up just makes me feel too sad.

Noel

“Eowyn and Addie are my two closest friends. I grew up with them, even though I’m a few years older than them, we still bonded. Addie, I’ve literally watched grow up. When my mom had to work all the time when I was a kid, a lot of different people babysitted me, including Addie’s mom and dad, so I don’t really remember when it went from being me playing with the little kid to us being genuine friends. And Eowyn, well, she basically took out her bossy boots, told a bunch of bullies where to stick it and demanded we be friends”

Kiera

“Oh, I have a pretty tight-knit group of friends, you’ve got to be careful who you trust, but I’d probably pick Niki. We’re the same age, we’re second cousins, and we have matching names. He listens to my bitching and doesn’t just roll his eyes at me, and he knows shit about hair and makeup, so he makes sure I always look on point. Plus, I totally have his back, always, and he has mine.

Also, Noel is my best friend, but I’d never tell him that. We fight all the time, but he lets me fight him. We both know it’s better to get our anger out on each other than on other people because we’ll still love each other at the end of it all.

Noel

“What? I’m not a player. I’m not playing anyone. I always try to be honest and upfront with people, unless it’s better to lie. Even then, it’s only white lies, so you don’t hurt anybody,”

Kiera

“Listen, I don’t like the word player. I do what I have to, to get what I want. It’s survival of the fittest, pure and simple. How do you think the most successful people got to where they are? You can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs, right?”

Noel

“Mom is amazing. I don’t think my sister appreciates just how amazing she actually is. She’s worked her ass off for us for years, sacrificed so much just so we could be happy. She also had to raise a werewolf son without knowing anything about it and quite frankly did an incredible job. I don’t know what kind of mess I’d have been if it wasn’t her.”

“I mean, she’s my mom, so I love her and shit like that, but OMG she’s so annoying. She tries to act like a bad ass and gets pissed off so easily, but she’s honestly not the bad bitch she makes out to be, she’s a total nerd. And, even though she says she doesn’t have favorites, she definitely favors Noel over me,”

Noel

“My best memory with my mom was when she took me out in the police cruiser, and I got to wear a police hat and play with the radio. It was also really funny when I said down the radio that there were velociraptors eating everyone in town and a couple of cops actually believed me. I was only about 7 years old, but…it’s Soapberry, that shit can happen.”

Kiera

“My best memory is when Mom took me to Sephora for the first time for my 14th birthday. I wasn’t allowed to wear makeup outside of the house, I was only allowed to play with it and I didn’t have my own, so it was crazy hard to follow makeup tutorials when the only makeup you have cost a dollar. But, she always said when I turn 14, that’s when she would let me wear makeup outside the house. That was really the first moment when my mom started letting me be the person I wanted to be because I’m not like her and I think she was sad that I wasn’t. I also demolished her credit card because I bought so much makeup”

Noel

“I’d probably have to say, Ephram and Dani. I idolized Ephram when I was little, I just thought he was the coolest guy, and he was like a giant compared to me. Not so much anymore, I’m pretty sure I’d beat him in a fight these days. And Dani, because they’re family, the only blood relative I see regularly, with the exception of my mom and my cousins. I might be an adult now, but she’s still Auntie Dani and always will be.”

Kiera

“Erm, can I say none of them? Some adults around town are cool and everything, but really, I would just rather hang out with my own friends. I guess Auntie Dani is pretty cool, but let’s be real, we’re not exactly similar. I do admire the fact that they are who they are, and that they don’t feel pressured to fake it. I guess I’ve taken a lot of that in, because I am exactly who I want to be, too, just in a very different way…even though I don’t think many people actually like me.”
