Bob being in the corner for the Avengers: Doomsday trailer is so him. Everyone in that room probably accepts he’s the Thunderbolts’ pal. He’s their bestie, their brother, (Alexei’s adopted son probably), and he’s Yelena’s…well…everything. But like why is he there sitting on the steps? He’s a normal civilian. But they just accept it. He belongs to the Thunderbolts as much as they belong to him, and they’ll just accept him sitting there in his socks and his sandals with his book.
So like just imagine later in the movie when someone’s hurting Yelena, and threatening to hurt the rest of his family after her, and he just goes full Sentry. And Thor and Reed and everyone is just like, “We had HIM the whole time?! And none of you said anything???”
And Bucky’s just like scratching his head, not making eye contact with anyone (especially Sam who has a deadpan glare aimed at Buck), Ava’s cheering him on, Alexei’s going, “THAT’S MY BOY” at the top of his lungs, John’s offering unhelpful fighting advice while Bob whoops the guy’s ass with zero effort, and Yelena (safe now) looks into the very stunned and angry eyes of Thor and goes, “What, you couldn’t tell he had superpowers?” Thor just sighs.
When Bob lands he’s just like, “Hey, guys.” And everyone stands there in stunned silence. Because the normal civilian guy who wears socks and sandals and has ruffled hair and puppy dog eyes is actually the most powerful being on Earth. And he doesn’t even realize he just shocked over half the people around him.
