The reply is a wheeze, he doesn’t look at her. His thumbs pick at the scars on his arms, as if they’re trying to scrape away the dirt they appeared to be. Well, they weren’t dirt, he knew that, but-
He tries to look at her and can’t.
“Sorry. Sorry.” He says again through the splitting pain in his head, fingernails digging in a bit tighter, trying to reassure himself he isn’t caught in a free fall, he’s not bound, she isn’t either, and he remembers all he’s going to.... right?
“Memory’s acting up.”
