Something bothered him, at the very back of his mind. Like a tickle at the back of one's skull, on the inside. The worst place that you couldn't reach.
It had been entirely too quiet recently. Well. It hadn't been too quiet; there was Orion recently. The incident that split them. And all the business with the clown. Birthdays, anniversaries. His training went on and on as it always did. He didn't show a great increase in confidence, but competence, definitely. Even Llyr's disappointment seemed to have tapered off some at this point.
But something seemed to be missing. Or rather, it felt like there was something that ought to be there, that almost was there, but there wasn't. A nonpresence. An invisible thing hanging in the air without weight, that lifted when you tried to look for it or feel for it.
Like a tickle at the back of one's skull.
