incubabe liked for a werewolf ‘verse starter!
Days like today involved a lot more emotional energy than Marielle generally expended. Helping a younger girl into the house, settling her either in her room, or in the living room with the others, carefully making sure she was okay- that alone was something Mari loved, but drained her.
Then, the next part- the endless phone calls in the garage with old friends and contacts who could help track and trace the girl’s life recently, and possibly bring her some justice- treading lightly around bringing up the actual subject of abuse.
Today, though, had been.. easier. The pack had been around, both in human and wolf form, so some of the calls had taken place while a very warm and cuddly wolf curled around Mari. And there was Riley.
Mari wasn’t entirely sure how the other woman had heard of the home’s purpose, or come into contact with Valkyrie, but she was glad. This girl.. Lydia, she said her name was, probably would have been stuck where she was for a while if not for Riley’s intervention.
Now, after Chinese had been ordered for the whole house (and pack, which meant at least 2 entrees per wolf) Mari had asked Riley to step outside, on the porch.
And Mari was fidgeting, not at all feeling like the badass werewolf alpha who rode with a gang of biker women. Not at all.
“Erm, hey, thanks for all your help. Lydia needed this place, and she told me earlier that she really appreciates everything you’ve done. I do too.”
She paused, swallowing and tucking some hair back behind her shoulder.
“Is there anything I can do to thank you? Coffee, or dinner, or- I’m a licensed mechanic! I can help you with any car trouble you might have?”
Fucking smooth, Marielle. So smooth.
