Please don’t spread that alters can die. They can’t. Alters are a part of a mind; they can’t certainly be put into dormancy, they can be hurt, but they cannot die.
confused as to where we said this? (i have one idea)
regardless, i think this can be a bit misguided, though i generally agree with the sentiment.
in cdd plurality, it can be understood that alters cannot "die" in the way of "this group of feelings, thoughts, emotions, memories, presentation, ect cannot perm. be removed from the psyche", but 'death' and 'dying' can mean a lot of things to a lot of people, especially traumatized people or those struggling with dissociation.
as for other forms of plurality (spiritual and gateway systems come to mind, but im sure there's others) death is probably much more likely a thing. do i know for sure? i don't experience plurality in this way, so not really! but it's also not my duty to judge. #notmymindnotmyproblem or what have you.
if you're talking about the zine we're making (DON'T KILL YOUR ALTERS)-- good! im glad the title did its job :) "dont attempt to kill your alters" or "dont be mean to your alters" isnt as punchy, but for sure will be addressed in the zine, as well as the ramifications of "killing", "trying to kill" or "being mean" to alters, especially persecutors.
the idea for the zine was borne from seeing how many systems still believe that punishing their alters is a way to get meaningful progress. from others as well as personal experience and from what i've read from medical professionals, this really doesn't work - and i want to create something easily digestible that can be handed to people or linked to people should someone else worry about them.
we will be including sources to academia in the zine so i hope you stick around until we finish it 💙
