Scenario: General Skywalker is sleepwalking around the Resolute. What do you do?
It had been a hell of a rough mission. Casualties were high, the intel was inaccurate, and Skywalker’s plans, as ingenious as they were, didn’t pan out well. Kenobi had been injured badly enough to warrant him immediate extraction to a bacta tank on the Resolute. One saved for only the most dire of circumstances.
After the mission was over, they had all been taken back to the flagship, Skywalker ignoring his own wounds and immediately making his way to the medbay. For what seemed to be hours, he stayed by Kenobi’s side. Rex had occasionally glanced in the medbay to check on both of their statuses but soon enough, Skywalker had fallen asleep.
The next time around, though, Rex was just about to enter the medbay when he saw the General’s silhouette walking down the darkened halls; shoulders slumped forward, head weighing down, feet practically dragging.
“Sir?” Rex’s voice was quiet, full of concern. There was no response, only quiet mumbles that reverberated down the hall. The Captain moved quicker, catching up to Skywalker. And still he heard mumbles.
Padmé. Naboo. Obi-Wan.
Sleepwalking?
Rex clearly didn’t know that the General did such a thing. But he didn’t know what to do. Startling him out of his sleep after such a stressful time was dangerous, especially for a Jedi who could slice the clone clear in half. No, he remained behind him the entire time, gently guiding him in the direction of his quarters with soft words of encouragement or even a bump on his arms.
As soon as he reached the room, he unlocked it and made sure that his General was safe in his own place.
And unless Skywalker asked, he’d keep this a secret, just as he had done so many times before for him.
