To say that it did not hurt would be lying; but Brutus was far less susceptible to the fire of a bullet than most. It had knocked him off his feet, of course, and the blood welled and spilled through the fabric of his shirt and ruined it. His body convulsed; but the din that came from the giant in his pain was almost minimal.
