Modern Day JonaDio headcanons
I’m finally getting around to making a post on the account for the first time? Anyway, please excuse my word vomit, as usual. I’ll tend to write in headcanon format because my brain can’t arrange coherent thoughts for writing format (maybe in short spurts, but--). Well, without further ado? Feel free to DM or leave comments if you guys have any input. Ofc, shrieking with others who like this pair as much as I do is always welcomed <3. I’ll drop in new word vomit with semi-frequency. >
01. If they were ever revived into modern day, I would think that both Jonathan and Dio would better be able to fit into society than they would have been able to in the Victorian era. Jonathan, given that he was the sole heir to the Joestar fortune, would most likely not have been able to pursue his passion of being an archaeologist in academia and out of not wanting to disappoint his father, would have ultimately given up his dreams to learn his family’s trade instead. On the same note, I don’t think that Dio, born a peasant and commoner, would have ever been fully accepted into the world of nobility that the Joestars thrust him into when they brought him under their wing. In this sense, I think that he was and always an outcast in high society, no matter how much the Joestars tried to bring him into the fold. Dio’s greatest weakness is his pride and his disdain for being looked down upon, and obviously lead to his understandable, but rather extreme hatred of nobles and the wealthy alike.
If given the possibility that both characters could be revived into present-day (of course Jonathan would have to get Dio to leave his evil-doing, people-hating ways first LMAO), I think they would be able to better carve out a life for themselves, free from the tethers and restrictions of class and expectations that their oppressive era imposed on them.
02. My headcanon is that Jonathan is a university professor (Dr. Joestar, or Professor Joestar, anyone? 8) ). He has a reputation in their department for being extremely helpful and encouraging, always leaving plenty of office hours so that his students can drop by and ask questions. In addition to that, he even helps others with their research in his own time. Jonathan just likes being of help, whenever needed. In addition to the academics, he likes to get to know his students personally and students say that he’s a natural counselor, who gives excellent advice in just about almost anything.
As for Dio, he is obviously a lawyer. Silver-tongued and with a knack for arguing, he would obviously be nearly unbeatable in the courtroom. On the side, he teaches a couple of classes a week in the same university as Jonathan (Jotaro is a professor here as well for the Marine Biology Department), and unsurprisingly, some students have taken the classes of both professors. While Jonathan has the reputation for being patient and kind, Dio has the reputation for being extremely intimidating, sarcastic, snarky, and sassy, and unfortunately for the students that come into his class thinking he’s going to give them an easy time, they are sorely mistaken (Think about Gordon Ramsay judging your food every time Professor Brando grades your research paper, kiiiind of like that). He has very little tolerance for foolishness and is unafraid to roast students who act out-of-line. Will also grade your papers harshly, because he wants you to learn and will not give you an easy time for the sake of giving you an easy time :’). Nonetheless, he is not unreasonable, and if you don’t act stupid or get on his nerves and try your best, you’re probably fine.
Students are obviously surprised to hear that this Professor Brando and their Dr. Joestar are married.
