There was a slight possibility, a faint but present chance that the declaration wasnât just dramatics, but a fair statement. Darcy was aware he could be extreme at times, uncompromising and a tad bit inconsiderate towards others when he had his mind set on something, but overall, he liked to think he was a decent person, or at least a good man like his mother had always told him to be. But not a nice guy, never a nice guy because people that called themselves nice guys normally werenât, they were assholes who wanted to be rewarded for acting halfway decent. On a scale from halfway decent to fully decent, Darcy might have been a bit lacking, but he didnât think he deserved that accusation at all. âYouâre not a doormat and you know it,â He grumbled, arms crossed. âDonât try guilting me to justify your hissyfit. If you want to act like a teenager, go sulk in the bedroom until youâre ready to be reasonable.âÂ
âOh yeah? Then tell me why the fuck you try to walk all over me every fucking chance you get.â Jae folded her arms over her middle, irritation plain as day on her features as she stared at him - purposely mirroring his own stance. Maybe it seemed like she was losing her shit over nothing, but sheâd rolled over for him one time too many lately, and she wasnât doing it anymore. At his final comment, Jaeâs jaw went slack and she just stared at him, her mind torn between shock and outrage. A moment later, it settled on the latter. "Youâve got to be fucking kidding me. Youâre sending me to my room?â She sneered, pointing out the patronising nature of his words. Her left arm fell to her side while the right one lifted. She took one exact step and poked the tip of her right index finger into his chest. âYou better backtrack pretty fucking fast, Darcy.â
