Ā Ā Ā She didnāt exactly how she came to be acquired by this organization that called itself The HandĀ after the shipyard incident, couldnāt yet decide if it was better or worse than being in the workshop, or even if theyād been involved in this transaction. Either way, she knew how to keep her head down and play by the rules, and thatās exactly what she would be doing.
It started off familiar enough. A battery of physical and mental tests, evaluations and experiments as they tried to ascertain the extent and limits of her abilities. Afterwards, they brought her out to play with the other kids, and Angel found herself sparring with actual honest to god ninjas. Their brand of viciousness made for good training. It was a nice way of keeping herself busy while they continued to keep her in the dark as to what they wanted with her. Nothing good, for sure.
Eventually, she was assigned a handler of sorts, someone she would be personally answering to, and was told he would be coming to meet her sometime during the week. She was practicing tai chi in one of the many rooms facing the inner garden when the quiet slide of the door eased her out of the meditative state into full awareness. Her movements continued fluidly until she finished the routine, taking a deep breath and turning to find a very tall man standing there, watching her with piercing blue eyes. Angel had never been the chatty type, but now more than ever, when she was within a completely unfamiliar setting, she defaulted to speaking when spoken to.
