Ā Ā Ā It was her own fault. The first time they came across each other, her control slipped. It wasnāt even his more than striking appearance, but rather the contradictory energy he carried. The almost cheerful charisma of his speech, the imposing build of his figure and the silent, immovable air of indifference that emanated from deep within him, they all clashed violently with one another despite not rippling across the still waters of the surface of his outward temper.
It was more than enough to make her own aura flare up in response to it, however. For a split second, her boundless curiosity allowed her heightened senses to spread past her usual inner defenses and reach out to him, to try and understand what he was. She chained them back down as quickly as she could, but saw that sharp glint of recognition in the gold of his eyes, perhaps even a touch of amusement as well.Ā
Thankfully, he was otherwise occupied chasing criminals, and as soon as their gazes lost contact, she made herself scarce, hoping it would stay at that. But the same instincts that somehow told her she was not in danger before him promptly pointed out that this encounter was far from over.
The second time they come across each other, sheās standing on her balcony with a glass of wine when she feels a sharp shiver tickling down her spine. A strangely familiar stare locks on her, making her aura swirl around her again, confirming whatever suspicions he might have been left with the first time around.Ā
