The extraterrestrial was always impeccably careful when it came to keeping his tech out of wandering eyes, his research was to observe the natural state of life on this planet- not alter it. Changing things wasn’t his job, he wasn’t supposed to stand out and ostracize himself from those he was meant to closely study to figure how their minds worked, their cultures and ways of life, nothing more. Hanbin’s species wasn’t known for their subterfuge prowess, in fact they had close to nonexistent acting talent collectively. He’d worked extremely hard to slip into the role and completely immersed himself into the lives of the humans. The alien didn’t doubt that he still came off as strange but as long as they accepted him despite it that’s all he cared about. The space traveler was hiding away in his room, tinkering around with his scanner silently. He’d feigned temporary illness to secure an empty and quiet space for a bit, but the sooner he got things fixed and stashed back away he’d feel a lot more relaxed. Folded up in the middle of his bed Hanbin was completely absorbed in his work as he used a pocket laser to reroute the wiring in the device circuits that he hadn’t even heard the footsteps approaching his room.Â
Suddenly the door to his room opened, the male’s attention snapping up to the interruption. He forgot to lock the door. How could he forget the most basic rule?! “I... This is-... I can explain?”
