Falling To Pieces

âKeen?â Edward whirled around to face him. âKeen? You think Iâm bloody keen to throw this away?â He pushed right up into Liamâs space, anger taking hold to protect himself from the pain this was causing him. âAlright, Li, I tell you what. If you can tell me, right now, when the last time we had an actual conversation was, what problem I had at work last week, or what fucking date passed by two days ago, then Iâll stay.â
Heâd barely seen his partner lately. If Liam wasnât working late at his office, he was absorbed in his laptop in the evenings. Heâd stopped bothering to set the table for dinner, just bringing a plate through to where Liam was working. He knew Liam took his job seriously and heâd never begrudge him that, but when he hadnât even acknowledged the anniversary of his grandfatherâs passing, that had been the last nail in the coffin. What made it even worse was that he knew it wasnât deliberate. Liam just hadnât even noticed the date. It was the whole reason heâd wanted to go back to Galway.
