Flynn woke, as he often did in recent days, feeling like crap.
Which was odd, because apparently, he had a clear bill of health. The poison that he’d had at the Gala had been cured by the antidote that had been found. His arm had healed up pretty well, a long, pale blue scar that ran from his left wrist to the bend of his arm the only remnant of what was once a long, deep gash.
The only issue was the opal that was fused into his chest.
Flynn groaned, low and quiet, as he reached one heavy arm up to rub at his chest, just under the opal that had made a home in his skin. Everything felt... heavier now, like it wasn’t a stone on his chest but a several-ton boulder holding him down. Around the stone, his skin was cold to the touch, and he knew that if he looked into a mirror, he’d see the opal that had hung around his neck for nearly a two years seemingly melted into his skin. Blue veins radiated from the stone like a spiders’ web, glowing oddly if the light was low enough.
His eyes, once a playful, deep blue, were now a bright blue-gray that almost shone in the dark. His brown hair was starting to gray at the temples.
Overall, he felt and looked like shit.
But no, the doctors said there was nothing wrong with him that they could fix.
Hacks.
Pushing himself upright, Flynn braced himself up on his arms, letting his brain roll around his head as the vertigo from sitting up passed. Getting up was always the worst part, he’d found. Once breathing came easier, he made his way out of the bed. It would get easier, he knew, the first few minutes after waking up were always the worst, but then it would get easier. Not by much, but by a little.
He caught a glimpse of the clock as he shuffled to the bathroom. It was nearly seven o’clock in the evening. His sleep schedule was so fucked.
After relieving himself and washing his hands and face, Flynn made his way out to the kitchen as he pulled on a tank top that sat low enough to not irritate his chest. The lights were on, he noticed, which usually meant...
“Hey, Blondie,” Flynn greeted, voice rough with exhaustion as he walked heavily into the kitchen.

Flynn had found a little routine for himself in Swynlake. It was odd; he was used to routines, used to stretches of time doing the exact same thing every day between moments of constant motion and change, but he was also used to those routines being centered around robbing someone blind.
Following a mark, getting a part-time job at a café next to a gallery, even that time he spent three weeks playing chess in a park almost religiously every day from 10:23 to 1:17 PM (Don’t ask).
This routine was just... him. His life.
Answering emails and updating his website in the morning after making sure all the firewalls were in place. Writing in the afternoon; sometimes in his recently finished home-office or out in town. Then in the evenings, he would either make dinner at home or go out to the Court to check on Wendy and have a drink or two.
And a few times a week, he had lunch with Rapunzel at the flower shop.
“Special delivery for a Ms. Corona!” he called out playfully as he shouldered his way through the door, the familiar ringing of bells overhead heralding his arrival just a tad quieter than he had. The Garden Grove was always perfectly warm and humid, no matter how muggy and miserable it was outside, and the beautiful arrays of flowers and shrubs made it feel like he’d walked into an enchanted garden instead of a little shop off Main.
“Hope you’re in the mood for Tiana’s because I was craving gumbo,” Flynn continued, balancing the paper bag with all their lunch as he headed deeper into the shop. “And yes, I got you extra beignets. I accept thanks in the from of glowing praise and adoration or a pat on the head, I’m not picky.”
Hey, Tooth- are the girls okay? This whole thing is giving me the shivers. And I INVENTED the shivers!
Her pacing (darting back and forth) halted to give Jack a small smile.
"Don't worry, Jack. We're made of stern stuff. It will take more than yet another plot from Pitch to truly rattle us!"
He laughs. How cute. But as for the other statement... none of his concern, eh? Eclipse thought about it for a moment. He supposed the boy was... speaking the truth.
「 ....ah. I suppose you're right. I could care less for what you do, since I'm not a Hero like Luminous is.」
「 I'm surprised that you're still hanging around.」
He seems to be bored as he looked upon the figure under the tree. Ryo again... of course, beneath the facade, he was amused. Amused by how they managed to cross paths so many times.
