I think my favorite thing about Operation Overlord/the great 4chan-tumblr raid as a piece of internet history is the fact that somewhere near the end a bunch of guys sitting around on /b/ were like “wait, tumblr has way more single girls than 4chan has. 4chan has way more single guys than tumblr has... do you see where I’m going with this?”
and not only did the 70 other guys on that thread not tear him to shreds for thinking of sleeping with the enemy, but suddenly everyone decided that since the ddos didn’t work and this guy was on to something that the raid was over.
And then following that, suddenly all of the meetup threads on /b/ were flooded with actual girls. The stupid ‘fmk’ style /b/ games were suddenly having actual real girls post their photos to them and stuff. People made AMVs of Anonymous//Tumblrina. And now there are at least a dozen couples out there who have to never ever talk about how they met their partner lest the raid be brought up again.
