leftover notes! mostly about individuals nowÂ
drake: the fearsome dragon master admiral of hoenn's navy. terrifying but absolutely brilliant at what he does. the navy's mascot is absol, the harbinger of destructionÂ
the ships of hoenn are known for the flocks of golbats that cloud the navy. no one really knows why they show up. they just doÂ
steven stone: captain of the rose wall, the knights who serve directly under the royal family. the two princes' combat and weaponry master since childhood, as well as their personal guard. (however, he is most often found at the heir apparent's side, reprimanding breandan while the prince tries to avoid eye contact)
wattson and brawly are captains in the navy, and flannery is a lieutenant of the wallÂ
wallace syrio forel: literal water dancing master whose name echoes throughout hoenn. also a childhood teacher of the princes, he took especially to remy. realizing remy's athletic aptitude, he personally taught remy the water dancing fighting arts from a young age.Â
winona: commander of the winged knights, a specialized reserve group of airborne fighters. they are summoned from their mountainous training grounds only in the most dire situationsÂ
monseigneur stone: father of steven, minister of the marble bank. a wise, genial man whose opinions norman holds in high regard
house birch: headed by a respected scholar and mage, and father of two very gifted daughters and a remarkable younger son.Â
marielle: the eldest daughter. her dancing is among the most praised in the isles, and was widely regarded a master at a young age. she's called the mayflower among her admirers
vera: the middle child, though with her wild mannerisms one wouldn't think her a noblewoman upon first meeting. she is a winged knight under winona's command. she's been called the sapphire savage on the battlefield
maxell: the brilliant youngest birch, whose insights make him a really, really valuable asset
phoebe: the young head oracle of pyre temple. regarded as a cherished beacon by all
sidney: comes from a clan of warriors sworn to protect the pyre prophets for generations.
maxie: member of norman's personal council. a radical visionary who sees inadequacy where most see success.
archie: leader of a rogue pirate fleet that rejects the royal leadership. a fundamentalist who sees moral decay as the result of the new leadership.Â
wally: an aspiring squire of the wall. idk he does shit lol
i made a damn pie chart of their military too
prince breandan: the older royal child and standing heir to the throne. inheriting his mother's wit, breandan's strengths lie in calculation, but he struggles with interpersonal situations. he's quite snide, and the seniors at the war table resent the prince's arrogance. ser steven constantly reminds him his success is meaningless if he can't learn to empathize, though breandan at least attempts to be earnest..... sometimes. his personality tends to isolate himself from others, especially from his brother, though he is committed to his role.
prince remy: the younger royal sibling. while his brother followed the path of a proper future king, remy devoted himself to art and service. people gathered across the many isles to watch the prince compete in dancing tourneys, earning the title of the ruby prince. somehow, he ended up in the underground fighting scene as the red rook, winning prize money for the citizens hoenn's wealth forgot.Â
later (when some Plot Things happen), remy would join the yeux noirs/black eyes, an elite tactical squad commanded by the monarch. basically a secret police assassination force. marielle and the prodigies tate and liza are also recruited.Â
