Humanity's Strongest || (Mikasa & Levi)
Soft chimes of the bell that hung overhead echoed in the book cafe, the crunching of grounded coffee beans and hissing of the machine as it worked on to create it's well-known concotion, invading her nose with its fragrant, invigorating scent with the faint musky undertone of paper.
Upon her arrival in Bunkyo a few days ago, she had chanced upon this place. It wasn't that there was anything special about this place whatsoever, other than the rumoured delicious coffee it served. It was just like any other book cafes in existence, numerous shelves lining the interior filled with old and new books alike, neatly catalogued and separated into their genres. It was simple, not too crowded its premise sparkly clean.
Picking out a random paperback novel that caught her attention from the dustless shelves, Mikasa settled in one of the plush, comfortable seats by the window before gently turning open to the first page, careful not to damage it with negligent handling.
As soon as she had launched herself into the first paragraph, she was a goner -- her surroundings fading away into nothing but a soft buzz behind her as she escaped into the fantasy world of her novel.
