Superman - Ultimate Flight at Six Flags Great America!

Alright, going into the rest of the coaster posts I have from Great America, pretty much all of them are gonna be relatively short since all of these rides are either super small scale or, more so, clones of rides I've done at other parks and already made TTC posts about lmao. The first of these is Great America's Superman Flying coaster, which is the exact same as Great Adventure's Superman - Ultimate Flight lol. If you want a more in-depth breakdown of the layout, take a look at that post where I talk about each element more individually.

But in general, I still think these Superman Flyers are a lot of fun. For the most part, they do a really solid job of accentuating that feeling of flight that they're designed to do. Filled with (mostly) large, swooping, graceful elements, these layouts are just fun and, well relaxing isn't the right word lol but they're the kind of ride where you don't really have to think about anything and just enjoy the experience if that makes any sense lmao. There is one exception to this and that's the ride's signature element: the pretzel loop. This is the hallmark of pretty much any B&M Flyer and it's far and away the most intense part of the ride. You get some crazy Gs as you bottom out on your back at the base of that loop and it's the highlight of the ride for me.

Like I said, this ride is basically the exact same as Great Adventure's Superman, although I place this one a single spot lower on my list because this one did feel like it had a slight vibration to it throughout the ride. It was nothing significant enough to really detract significantly from the ride experience (it was smoother than Wrath of Rakshasa I'll say lol) but it wasn't glossy smooth like the one at Great Adventure. Also like Great Adventure's Superman, this one was also plonked down on a section of grass cut out from the Great America parking lot lmao. I mentioned this in my post about Whizzer from a few days ago, but Superman was initially supposed to replace that ride in the middle of the park, but public backlash to that announcement was so significant that the park changed course and decided to replace their Arrow Dynamics MegaLooper Shockwave, which was already unpopular and a maintenance headache, with Superman. Just an interesting little tidbit of history for an otherwise off-the-shelf model of ride haha.

Even though it's not the most interesting ride in the world given how I'd experienced it before at Great Adventure, it's still always cool to add another Flying coaster to my count, especially since there aren't that many of them in the US. Though hopefully, I'll be able to add a custom Flyer to my list later this year. Stay tuned hehe :3c
