SCARLET.

            ❛  excuse me !  ❜   dainty frame pushes weight ‘pon her toes,  calls out through cupped hands around painted lips            whether or not the figure bobbing among the waves can hear her,  she’s entirely uncertain.   all she needs is some directions.

            ❛  it’s certainly been a while,  barista - kun,  ❜   lips quirk            a simple offering,  painted in rose hips & gold ;   purse grasped in cardinal nails at her front,   ❛  is it always this quiet after lunch rush ?  ❜

            ❛  ah,  it’s raining. . .  ❜   sounded disappointment follows a hand outstretched towards cascading droplets   /   casts gaze towards deary skies above.   the library’s storefront gives her substantial covering,  but she can’t stay there forever.   how bothersome.

     as the heiress of the kurosawa family dia is usually composed and refined – but when she glimpses a redhead who’s more than familiar even though they’ve never before met, she can’t stop her heart from beating madly.

     ❝ e-excuse me… nishikino maki-san? ❞ oh my god, i spoke to her.

            shoulders tense   /   bird - boned,  poised to take flight upon ‘pon posture refined.   to be called out to among unknown streets,  stuttered words & voiced youthful excitement aimed only for HER ;   it reminds her of old times,  & it leaves her a little uncertain,  a surprisingly pleasant feeling resonating in her chest.   ❛  yes,  can i help you ?  ❜

            ❛  rin              it’s left,  right,  left,  spin.   do you want me to demonstrate ?  ❜   it’s not her section of the routine to practice,  yet observant glances serve her well   /   miscalculated steps among fluid movement are easy to pick apart.

            ❛  those teeth. . .  ❜   inquiring words slip off the tongue,  flee lips without realization ;   she tucks scarlet strands behind an ear in thought,   ❛  it’s a little early to wear halloween props,  isn’t it ?  ❜

“Rin thinks so-nya…” Oh no, the t word. The word that strikes the most fear into Rin Hoshizora- test. “Uh… yeah! Rin totally has… haha…”

              “ Ah, a dandelion. Here you should have it — you look like a dandelion girl. ”

            DANDELIONS.   the lion’s tooth,  stubby plants bathed in gold ;   they stand defiant in the sun,  shine in their glory.   a weed among the flowers,  coming back again & again & again without relent.   she holds the dainty thing in gentle digits,  twirls the stem between her ‘tips.   inferior,  lesser,  flora’s peon,  yet persists nonetheless.   they persist / life persists / she persists.

            DANDELION GIRL,   she cracks a small smile to her benevolent stranger,  holds petals aurous - dipped with utmost care.   eyes soft beneath lashes & rose dancing across youth’s cheeks,  she is humbled.
