Hi. My name is John. I’ve recently been diagnosed with OSDD, and got annoyed by the fake claiming. So I’ll use this blog to point out things I don’t like.

This blog isn’t limited to calling out r/systemscringe, but any fakeclaiming I see that is unnecessary or odd.

I don’t care if you’re an ex-member of r/systemscringe or an ex-fakeclaimer, you’re welcome here.

Fakeclaiming: accusing someone of faking DID or OSDD without proof. This creates a sense of elitism in the community, as well as fears for real systems being open about their experiences being a system.

I’ll always censor usernames, as long as it’s not violent behavior or threats. This page is anti-endogenics. I’ll post around once or twice a day.

An endogenic system is a group of multiple identities or parts that is not caused by trauma. Unlike DID or OSDD systems (which are trauma-based and clinically recognized), endogenic systems believe their plurality formed through non-traumatic experiences.

Not everyone with DID or OSDD experiences the disorder in the exact same way, the same way PTSD doesn’t look the same in every single situation. Functional multiplicity exists. So does variance in symptom severity.

Research shows symptom severity in DID/OSDD varies. Functional multiplicity exists and is documented. Not all systems are severely impaired daily. (PMC9120276)

DID is underdiagnosed due to lack of clinician awareness. Studies show an average delay of 6.8 years before accurate diagnosis. (PMC9597071)

“Being diagnosed under 35 is rare”

This is unsupported. While delays are common, early diagnosis is not “suspicious”.

OSDD is actually the most common dissociative disorder, accounting for ~40% of cases. (ISSTD Guidelines)

At what point does “critiquing fakers” become just thinly veiled bullying?

Trauma expression doesn’t always look clinical or grim. Reddit users (and especially cringe subs) are not clinicians. Making sweeping judgments about the validity of someone’s diagnosis based on their tone or language is harmful.

Posts like this alienate people who actually do have these disorders but express them in ways that don’t fit Reddit’s preferred mold of “acceptable trauma.”

Wow. There is a lot to unpack here in r/systemscringe.

A person posts about receiving death threats and being emotionally overwhelmed, and the subreddit’s reaction is to minimize it, deflect responsibility, and then demand self-reflection from the victim.

Dogpiling, public mocking, and brigading contribute to real mental health harm. Hiding behind “we just want improvement” doesn’t erase the harm.

If your entire community exists to mock and invalidate people, you are not engaging in “critique” you are enabling harassment.

DID typically affects around 0.1% to 2% of people, though some studies suggest rates up to 3–5%. Including OSDD, estimates rise, ranging from 0.8% to 1.5% for DID, with an additional 0.2% to 8.3% for OSDD.

The Merck Manual puts DID prevalence in the U.S. general population at ~1–1.5%.

OSDD (Other Specified Dissociative Disorder) is the most common dissociative disorder diagnosis, making up around 40% of cases within dissociative clinical populations.

DID/OSDD (0.5%–2%) is roughly on par with the prevalence of green or gray eyes globally, not common, but not as rare as heterochromia.

i thought that they werent supposed to fakeclaim or whatever in that subreddit, like its a rule??? and yet??? thats all they do???? like flat out all they do is fakeclaim every. single. system. they post.

and they say we dont have a life/job/whatever but they spend hours and hours going through (majority minors) blogs to screenshot their stuff and post it to make fun of literal fucking children (majority, i know there are adults who have also been posted but you get what i mean).

also please make sure to take breaks if it does effect your mental health at all

Yeah, but they clearly seem to do it, even if it is indirectly.

And the child thing is so correct, there are so many children posted there, I see lots of adults posted there too but definitely feels like there’s more children.

Have they forgotten that children don’t need to work beyond school (8am-4pm) and homework (4:30pm-6pm). After that, they’re free to do as they please, so they are gonna have time to do stuff like posting “cringe content” to the internet. Not to mention weekends and holidays when they happen, that’s lots of time especially if in the holidays the children’s parents are still working.

(The times in this instance are examples)

Yeah, there’s better things for the children to do, ie go out with friends, go for walks, etc., but not all children have the ability to do that, the most they can do is some puzzle books at home (which gets boring after a couple days, trust me).

As for the taking breaks thing, yeah, I’ll take breaks if I need to, I’m mostly queuing stuff up at the moment and just letting tumblr post it 10 times a day. If I do take a break, then I’ll change it to 3 or 5 times a day so that content is still pushed out but I don’t have to worry about it for a couple days.

Alters can be nonhuman. Researchers have documented that alters can identify as non‑human entities, including animals, fantasy creatures, and even inanimate objects like trees. This falls under non‑human alter types and is recognized in clinical writings such as The Haunted Self by van der Hart, Nijenhuis, and Steele.

Why does this happen? During early trauma, when a child’s grasp of human identity might be fragmented, parts may form around abstract or objectified concepts. This is a stupid Reddit post.

Fakeclaiming (in the context of plurality) often stems from insecure systems projecting their internalised anti-weirdness and pluralmisia onto others in an effort to prove they’re “one of the good ones” to neurotypical society.

“Weird” people making fun of the “weirder” to be more accepted by the “normals” is nothing new in marginalised communities, nor has it ever been productive. If you are someone who does this, do know that the bigoted neurotypicals won’t like you any more because you threw people who were slightly more different under the bus. You’re still a “weird multiple” who deviates from (and thus threatens) the status quo in their eyes, and the second you present even a bit outside the narrow standard of what they’ve deemed acceptable for those like you, or the second you stop trying to assimilate, they will start hating and invalidating you too. Fakeclaiming is unhelpful and accomplishes nothing, it only creates toxicity and works to marginalise us further.

The headspace is a visualization technique, even used in therapy to help facilitate inner communication between parts/alters. This helps system members coordinate and cooperate with each other. This also isn’t exclusive to systems and is used as a grounding technique. Hope this helps ❤️

What’s hard to understand about the rules? I’m confused. Essentially what the rules are saying is that you can’t fakeclaim/“point out” someone “isn’t” a system without contacting the mods.
