After TADC’s finale i finally joined to look at fandom discussions and maybe it’s the fact that i wasn’t really interacting with the fandom for anything other than memes and all that but there was a lot of… interesting interpretations of the story…?
It feels more bad faith, I’m not aware of any major drama behind the scenes and all that I could find feels somewhat petty.
I legit saw someone say that Gooseworx making the only Latino character in her story the a-hole was a display of what she thinks of them,. We have 6 characters that aren’t AI, what type of point are they making??
I don’t know, I liked the story a lot, I liked Jax as a character especially a lot. I did not catch the Trans-Coding I’m sorry. Bbut the story does not make him a good guy. He’s specifically an asshole. He’s a victim and an abuser. The story does not ask us to sympathise. It gave us an explanation not an excuse.
The rest of the cast did NOT hold a funeral for him, just kept him contained. They tell us that they hold funerals for those abstracted, THEY SHOW IT TO US IN THE PILOT.
They feel sorry for Jax because he’s still a dude who killed himself. PEOPLE FEEL BAD WHEN DUDES DIE, especially if they’re around the dude almost constantly.
Jax is a tragedy because he had ample opportunities to change and open up and be vulnerable. He gets an explanation as to why he was doomed from the start and we see his doom.
The story is not telling you he’s a wittle baby and the others should have tried harder to save him. Pomni saying she should have tried harder is THE BARGAINING YOU DO WHEN YOU LOSE SOMEONE! THE WHAT IFS. “WHAT IF I TOLD HER SHE WAS AN EGG AND TO TAKE ESTROGEN IDK MAYBE SHE WOULDNT HAVE DIED??? “
It particularly peeves me because I like characters like these, I like writing them going to their eventual doom and the audience getting frustrated because they’re RIGHT THERE! TAKE THE HAND!!! DONT FUMBBLE THIS YOU CAN BE SAVED. But for many reasons they just don’t wanna be saved— pride, self hate, general apathy.
Those characters fucking slaps. And I DONT KNOW IF I TRUST MY OWN AUDIENCE WITH THEM. I’m working on a comic, I don’t want to spell things out for the audience. I feel like if I show off my main antagonist, they’re gonna say he’s too sympathetic or the story wants you to feel bad for the deuce.
He’s does so much bad things, horrible fucking things, and the fact that I’m giving volume to him and giving him undeserved chances because he himself escaped consequences because of his power and resources and fumbles EVERY- SINGLE-TIME. HE DOESNT DO THE WORK, HE GETS 20 YEARS OF COMPLETE PASSIVITY WHERE HE COULD CHANGE AND REDEEM HIMSELF TO THE PEOPLE HE ABUSED. HE DOESNT PUT IN THE FUCKING WORK.
He has TWO parallel characters who DO redeem themselves in that same time period. HE DOESNT. I’m trying to make this point as on the nose as possible, BUT NOW I DO NOT TRUST MY FUCKING READERS.

BLUETOOTH IS CANON LESSGO, the little detail that the moon wasn’t programmed or made to love Cane, she just does on her own volition is a nice detail and gives more evidence that Cane is completely more capable of changing and growing past his coding.
I originally assumed that Cane would have been killed off with no redemption but understanding on the audience’s side, while Jax gets a redemption, but it was flipped and surprisingly so much nicer for the two of them. Jax gets no redemption and dies with understanding from the audience AND characters while Cane has a redemption.
CANE’S REDEMPTION OMGGGG!!! He sees something, he wants to get there, he tried his original squiggly objects. It doesn’t work. HE LEARNS. HE FUCKING LEARNS.

There is something so… normal about the human cast, compared to their wacky digital versions. Like, for some reason it just didn’t occur to me just how… easy to meet these dudes are.
The sudden cut to an Abstracted Jax and the way Cane clicked his teeth was HORRIFIC. I loved it a lot.
The way they just lived together after this. Like, there’s no way out, they have little responsibilities, best to just enjoy themselves.

im happy, the show was great. I hope Gooseworx feels pride for it. It’s well written, the twists made sense, the mystery was great and was properly foreshadowed and the characters and their arcs were extremely strong.
The fanbase was one of the worse, I understand the deterioration of passion into apathy, but this is definitely a work one should feel a sense of accomplishment from and I’m sure in time the love will seep back.

A loud crack from right above them caused them to look up at a large mass of tentacles.
As fast as one could blink, Karlach found herself in a strange room full of organic mass stuck in a strange pod as a strange purple humanoid with tentacles grabbed something from a pool.

Lae’zel was both lucky and unlucky that day. To first get captured by the Gaik get one of the parasites in her skull, then to be freed of her pod due to the attack from her brethren. She had a chance to survive. All she needs to do is to find a crèche and be cleansed.
She stumbled out of the room, the heat raging against her skin. She looked out of a hole in the ship and felt her heart top at the sight.
A fiery red hellhole. She was not sure how anyone could build a settlement in these conditions. How far was the nearest crèche?
The sound of a blade being drawn breaks her out of her trance and she turned towards the noise. Lossiir blinked in surprise, lowering his sword as relief floods his features, “Lae’zel! Vlaakith blesses us on this day!”

Of course Gale got out of his pod, he knew quite a lot of tricks as the former chosen of Mystra.
He quietly wandered the nautiloid leaning his weight onto a staff he took from a charred corpse. Avernus was not agreeing with him so he had to be careful to avoid any fiends or mind-flayers. The intellect devourers were docile to him at least, likely on account of the parasite in his head.
Another possible effect of the worm, his fatigue was heavily amplified. He couldn’t cast another spell until he built up enough magic and sitting around wasn’t exactly the safest choice.
He entered another room making way for the scuttling little brain critters and startled at the display before him.
A poor soul, their body opened and hung up on display with their guts framing their form. Their skull had been spilt open revealing the half-eaten brain underneath. Gale could hear their heart beating and see their lungs expand and contract.
After his shock faded, Gale started to walk through the room. The stench was horrible, his house-slippers kept sticking to the floor, he did not want to look down and see what exactly he was stepping in. As he passed the wretch he realised that they were conscious as well. Their red , slitted eye gazed at him as he moved.

Wyll couldn’t hear Mizora’s voice, any other time it would’ve been a blessing. He banged on the walls of his pod, panic really setting in. They put something in his skull.

“I’m turning into a mind-flayer?” He gasped. He could feel the panic setting back in, regrets flooding his mind.

Thanks to Mizora’s influence, Wyll was able to explore the nautiloid without trouble from the fiends attacking. And thanks to the worm in his brain, the intellect devourers left him alone too.
How convenient.
He even crossed paths with a wizard in his home clothes. Not that he was of much use. He just stuck close to the warlock. He didn’t feel upset about it, it was clear that he was extremely weak and sick and the boy couldn’t possibly leave the old man behind.
“I’m 32.”
Wyll looked back at Gale as he processed what he was told.
“What?”
“I can hear a bit of your thoughts through the connection between our parasites. It’s not intentional, I assure you, I am trying to control it. But, I’m not that old.”
“Oh. All right.” Wyll looked back around the corner to check for Illithids. He turned back around towards his companion, “32?”
“Yes.”
“What did you do?”
“Well, I don’t think that’s relevant.”
“My father’s 60.”
“Good for him.”
“You look older.”
“Unfortunately.”
“Did you sell your youth.”
“Can we please change the subject.” Gale’s annoyance was obvious.
“Right, I’m sorry.” Wyll looked away, embarrassed at his own behaviour.
Ask if his ex-lover was THAT bad.
“No, I’m not going to ask him that.” Wyll whispered.
“What?”
“Nothing. My patron had a question.” Wyll cleared his throat. He turned back around to check round the corner again and was picked up by a set of tentacles.
The mind-flayer’s mouth was way too close to Wyll’s face and he struggled to free himself. From his periphery, he could see Gale prepare to cast a spell.
A sudden sense of vertigo fell upon him as the ship seemed to turn entirely to its side, launching Gale backwards through the hall in the route of gravity. He remained where he was trapped within his captor’s tentacles.
The mind-flayer seemed distracted however, not having moved at all. The ship flipped again and the Illithid let him go, causing him to fall into another area of the ship.

Lae’zel has never driven a Gaik ship. Of course she wasn’t good at it. Lossiir was hanging on to the other side of the panel and handed her another tentacle.
She connected it to another she picked out and felt a brief moment of weightlessness as the ship finally transported itself out of the fire lands.
Lossiir looked back at Lae’zel grinning, she grinned back.
A flaming sword flew between them and lodged itself into the controls. Both heads whipped around to see the larger fiend creature coming towards them.
The ship lurched violently causing everyone to get flung into the air. Lossir lost his grip on the console and was launched towards one of the holes in the hull. Lae’zel was swift to try and catch him, flinging herself to the closest tentacle but it was too late. Another lurch and the whole room was in the air again. The warrior reached for the flaming sword instead, opting for a sturdier hold.
The fiend brute was stuck fighting the mind-flayer again, leaving her to her own devices to try and land the ship.
She connected another two tentacles and the ship lurched once again, dislodging the sword from the panel. She tried to grab onto anything else but was sucked out of the nautiloid.

Astarion’s pod was flung out of the ship when it crashed. He should be grateful that he’s alive but he’s still a far way from Baldur’s Gate. Thoughts swam across his mind on what to do next.
Cazador would want him back now that he’s technically free, he would probably send hunters after him. Whatever they put inside his skull, definitely not good. Perhaps a healer should be sought out while evading the hunters. for now he should find a place to stay for before the sun comes up.
He pulled himself out of his thoughts to start looking for shelter when he realised—

Likes praise and stuff, Bhaal gives it prizes and this feeling of love if it does a particularly good job.
Bhaal’s “love” leaves and it causes nausea and general emptiness so The Urge keeps trying to get that feeling back.
Dude was a pretty good leader for a murder cult, the Bhaalists felt like the cult was a family (The Urge felt the same)

Was really fine with the status quo for the cult, scared that anything more would result in it losing the only family that could bear to be around it.
Funny little sibling rivalry with Orin, it really thinks that Orin could shine and live much better outside of the cult.
Gortash is so smart and so charming and he thinks all its scary, mass murder bits and parts are so fucking hot and The Datk Urge has to do less stuff to get his praise.

I’m pretty sure Bonedaughter did to The Urge what it did to corpses when it wasn’t eating them…like… she seems the type … especially with how she talked about it.
The Dark Urge was naked on the nautiloid.
I imagine Gale being the MC during the Nautiloid section at the beginning, but Lizard boi was also roaming around eating corpses and looting bodies from clothes.
The Dark Urge referred to itself as The Dark Urge (remember the The in my name) until Wyll suggested D-Urge as a substitute. It was fine with that. shadow-heart didn’t appreciate Wyll’s suggestion of Doe.
I always imagine The Urge as the camp medic since it would have medical training and I multi-class the cunt into a storm cleric for the bonus damage. Since I imagine at least 4 of the TadPals having chronic conditions, they tend to come to it for help with issues and checkups.
But while the dude has training, it gets kinda obvious that it’s quite inexperienced anyways. It is however, better than shadowheart who only has like first-aid type of training.
so other than the Druid’s grove, they don’t get access to decent medics until the goblin camp. I kinda imagine they camp in the rafters and bring Halsin there after they free him, as a safe space to gather their bearings and make plans for taking out Minthara and Dror.
I always take a long rest in the goblin camp after doing a couple of the side quests and killing Gut and some goblins so the exit is so much easier.
Halsin rests at camp with them and since they couldn’t get dewormed, they just go to him too get themselves checked out.
I’m sure Karlach and Wyll are used to the wilderness.
Lae’zel was more susceptible to stupid earth shit tha we grew immune to. Githyaki don’t usually worry too much about that since they go back to their crèches or portal.
Astarion and Shadowheart are city bitches they keep touching the itchy plants.

Ok, I have a character called Sonnuvgud, (son of good) it’s a fake name but he is referred to it tha way for a majority of the story.
If fake names don’t count I have another character that’s named Abandon. Because their parent abandoned them at birth and one called Once Upon a Time.
Once Upon a Time named themself whereas Abandon was named my the people around them.
Those aren’t names and that’s why I think it’s stupid but it works well for those two.
Then there’s a family that names themselves after biblical figures. There’s an Adam, Eve, Lillith, Cain and Abel in this Family. But Abel is the father of Eve, Adam and Lillith and Lillith’s son is Cain because I really didn’t want them to be THAT heavily compared to their biblical namesakes and stories
Ever think about how much Default Durge and Orin look alike
Like, they're entirely different species, not all that blood related at all, certainly not in a way that would impact appearance, and yet...pale with red markings. Orin literally wears a carapace like Durge has scales. Her braid is full of spikes, not unlike the crown of spikes on Durge's head. Orin even moves kinda like a dragonborn, all fluid back-and-forth movements.
They're so different and yet so alike and they're siblings. Maybe Orin emulates him on purpose to be more like Bhaal's ideal spawn. Maybe she doesn't mean to do it. Maybe this is just what they're like and they just happen to be incredibly similar. It could just be a Bhaalist thing, but a lot of this aesthetic doesn't really carry over into anything else- most of the clothes and architecture seems to favor much darker colors and a more run-down feel. And then there's just them, so different from their environment but still so alike. Idk if I can even articulate this very well but just....siblings, man.
