I was recently trying to find step by step instructions for a complex crafting thing I'm doing and they don't exist in written form I could literally only find videos.

Like when I'm looking for a tutorial for a complex process i like to read the instructions all the way through, so i get a general idea, then if any of the steps confused me i go over them, if i need to I'll try and find picture or videos of that specific step, and then when I'm actually doing the process i keep the instructions and read them as i go.

This is LITERALLY impossible with videos. And they fucking take longer. The time is takes you to do your damn video entry i could be half way through a full read through of some instructions.

And I get that some people really do learn bedt with videos! But unfortunately video tutorials have killed the written tutorials and I'm fucking mad about it!

Between my adhd and audio processing disorder video tutorials are torture and you can't even do anything else while they're playing or you miss important steps.

Feminist criticism of men's behavior comes from the idea that gender is a social construct, that men are not inherently evil and their behavior can change. If men couldn't change, the criticism would be pointless.

It is not necessary for every feminist statement to include a 'not all men do this' disclaimer. The criticism itself already expresses the possibility that men could choose not to behave in this way.

Unless someone states that men's behavior can't change or that there is inherent evil in being a man, accusing a feminist of 'manhating' because she criticizes men is usually nothing but an attempt to distract from the content of the criticism itself.

We should recognize such an obvious attempt at derailment for what it is and move on.

When the context is anti-bigotry, then the implication of "I hate it when men / cis people / white people are like this" is very clearly "this is a symptom of a systematic hierarchy, they can change and they should". The position of the speaker as a feminist, trans rights advocate, anti-racist, etc. makes that very clear.

It is incredibly frustrating when some little imp then comes out of the woodwork to say "Well if I said that same thing about trans people / immigrants / arabs, etc. you'd call me bigotted!". Like, yeah, you sound bigotted because you're making those statements from an anti-feminist, anti-trans-rights, pro-racist position! The assumptions and worldview behind the sentence fundamentally changes the meaning of the sentence.

something i've noticed that has become really annoying in the past 10 years or so is this fad of what i've been calling, for lack of a better word, "structural whataboutism." it's that thing where, when faced with a concrete, resolvable problem in your community, your answer is to blame it on a vast, unsolvable issue of structural inequality and then throw up your hands. "there's trash all over the ground in this corner of the park" becomes "well, that's where MEN OF COLOR congregate after their 12-HOUR GRAVEYARD SHIFTS and i'm not going to support a CARCERAL SOLUTION to a CAPITALISTIC PROBLEM. WE NEED TO ELIMINATE POVERTY AND THE SUBJUGATION OF THE WORKING CLASS" and it's like okay but sis. someone still has to go pick up the trash. we don't need a carceral solution, we need more trash cans. you're not going to eliminate poverty and the subjugation of the working class and even if ya did, there would still be trash on the ground. how any of this passes for radicalism within their peer groups i simply don't understand. it's radical laziness more than anything else
