â© àŒ»Âš:·. He's clung behind his mother's leg as she stares at him. What a strange boy. She's never seen someone look so scared before in her whole life. He's older than her so why does he look so frightened.
She's waddling up to him with wide eyes as she looks him over from head to toe best she can even though he's squished as much of himself as possible behind his mother.
"Ilta, this is Sinfonia." Her mother announces behind her as she watches her daughter step closer to the speck of orange hiding behind Tuli's leg.
"Hei." The girl sounds as she leans towards him. "Why are you scared? I'm not mean or nothing."
"I don't know you." He stammers out as he clings to his mother's leg further.
However the woman of fire is leaning down to take her son's hand so she can guide him away from his hiding spot and more out in the open.
"Triini dear, it's okei. This is KesÀ's daughter. I was thinking you two could play together while we're working."
But orange eyes are only looking to the floor if only for a moment when they look back up to the hand extended in his direction and a bright smile across the face of the girl with bright yellow hair.
"I'm Palo." She declares as she reaches to take his hand and pull just a little. "We're best friends now so let's play together."
Eyes like the sunset are looking down at the sleeping form of the Symphony as she sighs. Sitting there at his bedside with his hand tightly woven into hers. Bandages around his head. Mask off and removed from the port entirely, while even more bandages and a brace set upon the center of his face to keep his nose stable.
He's a mess and she never thought she'd ever see him like this and she can't say she likes it. She remembers the day they met so clearly. She remembers all the years of shenanigans they got up to which were almost always her doing and his following but he followed her each and every time.
She can still hear her mother's voice in her head explaining, "Sinfonia is just a shy boy." And honestly the more she got to know him, shy wasn't even the half of it. Orangey was more than shy so getting himself into this fix just wasn't adding up.
Sielu lashing out the way he did, didn't make sense either. She was in charge of the younger musician's health and medication so unless something went terribly wrong that she didn't know about - there was absolutely no reason that Sielu should have gotten violent - even more so against the man he adores so much.
On top of which, she's been told what this orange dumbass said about Pilvi and even if she is mad about it - it still doesn't make sense. Why lash out about his nephew of all people? She knows the ritual was soon and they're all stressed but that doesn't mean getting that nasty with the man of Sinfonia's dreams was justified either.
Both of them were severely out of character here. They're a true bonded pair. Everyone around them noticed. They probably did too because they practically wilt at the lack of the other's presence.
Even more so because Liekki seemed to do basic care and little to nothing more.
There's no time to think about it when she hears groaning for the first time in several long hours.
He sounds next to her so she squeezes his hand in response before she sounds.
"Stay down, Orangey. Don't move. You're too fucked up to be moving all over the place."
She's squeezing his hand again at the sound of her name as she sighs, leaning forward to wipe the sweat from his brow as she does.
She's sighing hard again. She feels like he's been told by now but he's struggling to retain the information.
"Because you need a doctor right now." She lies. "He's teaching, don't worry about him."
And she watches as tears well up in his eyes and she almost wonders if his heart knows what his mind can't seem to keep a hold of.
"I'm the one here right now, Orange Boy so you just worry about me, okei?"
It's time for vitals and checking him over and making sure he's comfortable before she sets herself back down in his seat.
"Why you instead of Liekki? You're not my doctor."
"But I'm your best friend."
"Then that's why. Do you want me to go?"
"Then stop complaining. Do you really want Liekki in here anyway? I thought we mutually hated that bastard."
"Alright then." She sounds as she lifts herself to go fetch a glass of water. "I need you to drink something and nibble on a snack, okei? You've been sleeping all day."
"Why do I feel like garbage? KummisetÀ said I have a concussion."
"Then why are you asking me? You do have a concussion, Orangey. Just focus on resting for now. If you stress yourself out, you'll only make it worse."
She listens to him sigh as she pours him a small glass of water and shuffles back over to the chair at his bedside.
"Palo? Do you think Sielu will come by later?"
"Uh - maybe." She lies again. "He's been really busy though. With the ritual coming up and all."
She's handing him the glass as she watches his shoulders drop down against the pillow.
One sip. Then two and orange eyes are looking at her again as if there is a black void of lost time behind them that she doesn't know if she or anyone else will ever be able to fill again and with everything that void contains - she doesn't know if she wants anyone to succeed.
If he could remember what happened. If he could remember the way Sielu snapped without warning - he - he wouldn't be asking all these questions about him.
"Can you - tell him I love him for me? I know he's super busy, so can you just tell him it's okei and I love him for me?"
And that's when she hesitates. Hesitates because he really doesn't remember. Doesn't remember that he has that concussion in the first place from his head hitting the palace floor when Sielu burned black and pinned him to it. That he has that broken nose because something in the Aqua Soul broke and his sanity left him without warning.
Still no one understands what happened but it wasn't like Sielu at all and she can only think something with his medication must has fucked up along the way to make him completely 180 from his usual self.
She's reaching forward to stroke her hand over his hair a few times as she smiles.
"Of course, Orangey. I'll tell him. You just worry about getting better, okei?"
