in my drafts there is an au where ilya and shane are separated and living apart and one night ilya gets so drunk he tells the uber driver the only address he can think of, the only address he knows by heart, like the back of his hand, which is their home where shane stays. and of course they get into it about the fact that ilya found the key under the mat and came in drunk in the middle of the night and threw up in the guest bathroom but beneath all that shane knows without a doubt that ilya had tipped his head against the headrest in the backseat of the car with his eyes closed and before he’d given any address he’d simply said “home. please take me home.” and shane really isn’t sure what to do with that.
