i genuinely think that my command of the french language would expand tenfold if i could obtain access to the french version of spongebob with accurate french subtitles. due to my American Upbringing, i have the plots and quotes of most spongebob episodes embedded into my brain. as such, i’ll know the general idea of what they’re saying, allowing me to focus more on grammar and sentence construction than trying to piece together the plot - and grammar is what i need to work on to make it click when there are so many tricky concepts like gendered nouns and millions of verb tenses that make conveying your ideas in a new language SO hard (i always say that it feels like solving a math problem). it’s aimed at children, so the language isn’t going to be too ambitious, which is great when you’re only at an amateur level - and subtitles would mean i could write down new words/phrases and study them with ease, and put their spelling to how they are written, which is not always intuitive in french. plus, i’ll learn ocean words. someone give me bob l'éponge right now!!!
