one of my favorite things on the album is the equality in the relationship in different ways that she shows through parallels

godddddd i love how its nice to have a friend is literally just made up of simple acts of kindness/friendship. the simplest things. ‘wanna hang out’, lost my gloves you give me one, playing video games, walking home together, 20 questions, touching hands, sharing stressful moments, like.. THE SIMPLEST everyday things can turn out to mean the entire world to you. they get married, have each others backs everyday no matter what, stay in bed, the whole weekend. 

I feel like INTHAF is definitely at least in part inspired by Joe especially bc of when they met, like she probably didn’t feel like she had very many friends or people she could trust thus “it’s nice to have a friend” and in the last verse “have my back, yeah everyday” like she finally found someone who will defend her no matter what. Also, the fact that they were friends first and then became a couple just like the couple in the song. It seems like it’s a metaphor for their relationship
