Two dates: 4/18/1996 and 7/22/1996
Here's Jeff and his giant raincoat at the Gurten Festival in Bern, Switzerland on this day in 1995!
These were shared with me some time ago by Domenico Lavorato who had the amazing opportunity to photograph Jeff that day!
Thanks Steven

Jeff Buckley gig poster sudsy malones
Item description from the seller
This product is an original Jeff Buckley gig poster featuring an autograph from the artist. The poster is signed by Jeff Buckley and is a unique piece of entertainment memorabilia. It is a collectible item from the music industry, specifically in the rock and pop genres, originating from the United States. This poster would be a valuable addition to any music enthusiast's collection, showcasing a piece of music history with a personal touch from the artist themselves. Before he became a cult icon, Jeff Buckley passed through Sudsy Malone's Rock 'n Roll Laundry & Bar—a gritty, unlikely venue that doubled as a laundromat and underground music hub. In the early ’90s, Sudsy’s was known for hosting raw, intimate performances from artists on the brink, long before wider recognition.
Buckley’s appearance there—like many of his early shows—captured him in that fleeting pre-Grace moment: just a voice, a guitar, and a room close enough to feel every note. In a space where the line between performer and audience barely existed, his soaring, otherworldly vocals turned a small Cincinnati bar into something almost transcendent.
Today, those Sudsy Malone’s shows are remembered less for setlists or polish and more for atmosphere—the sense that something rare was happening in real time. Like many who passed through that room, Buckley left behind the kind of performance people only fully recognize as legendary after the fact.
A Bit of History on Sudsy Malone's
Sudsy Malone’s opened their doors in July of ‘86. Located at 2626 Vine Street (across from Bogart’s) The place was originally intended to be a Laundromat that served drinks and snacks. Already an incredible and novel idea at the time, things were about to get even cooler when after a few short months of opening, the owners were approached with the idea of booking live music in their dining area. Sudsy Malones, Cincinnati Ohio - July 1995
FROM Roger Klung Cot. 5, 2009 on Facebook
RIP Sudsy Malone's. Yes, children, it really WAS a magical time for music in Cincinnati. A&R record people tripping over each other to sign the next Afghan Whigs. Publishers driving up from Nashville and the opening band not even knowing (guilty as charged). The Willies' record release was at Sudsy's, the same year Nevermind was released. We rented our own PA (we got the idea from Over The Rhine!) which confused and ultimately aggravated the other band on the bill. We didn't have Internet then, kids; also, no School of Rock or YouTube courses from music lawyers, we were just winging it. Can I get an "amen" from anyone who was at this Sudsy's show? (3/17/91) Shawn Marsh, did you run sound? Or Steve Butkovich?
