Hey Hey Bailey! Won't you save me?

Me:

“Where’s mommy?” Your daughter pouted when Calum walked into her bedroom. 

“Mommy’s running errands today little love.“ 

"Oh." 

"Awe come on princess, you get to spend the whole day with daddy,” he said, trying not to feel bad about her reaction. He had been gone a few months after all. “We can do whatever you want." 

Calum realized, quickly, that giving a five year old free reign of the day’s schedule wasn’t a bright idea. After breakfast, which consisted of French toasts and loads of syrup Calum was being pulled into his little princess’s closet and forced into a pink tutu and socks because, "your feet are too big for my ballet slippers." 

For the next several hours Calum and your daughter reenacted and blatantly made up routines from The Nutcracker which she had just watched with her ballet class. She taught Calum how to do pirouettes and how each ballet position and before long both her and Calum were twirling around the living room in a fit of giggles. 

But this was serious business, and by the time you got home later that night Calum and your daughter had prepare an entire routine to show you. So you sat on the couch and watched as your precious five year old and goofy husband paraded around in their tutus and matching Christmas sweaters. You laughed as they twirled around the Christmas tree and hollered when your little girl leaped into her daddy’s arm like in Dirty Dancing. And when it was all over you watched them bow and curtsy before pulling both of them into a giant hug. 

"I think you should do that for grandma and grandpa on Christmas Eve,” you said, planting the seed in your daughters head. 

“No,” she said shaking her head. “I’ll make a new one for all of us mommy.”
