I had a request for another mermaid. They are a lot of fun. I tried out done new paper which is a game changer! It is Saunders Waterford 300lb hot press high white. It takes details so we’ll- I never realized how much I was struggling to make the marks go where I wanted them to go— with this paper they go where I put them! It makes the process even more of a joy. It’s a bit expensive but so worth it. I’ll order straight from England next time which will take a little longer but be much more affordable ( #jacksonsart )Swipe to see all the sparkles. Did I add too much? I have yet to make a painting with a big wash like a field or ocean top - those do probably look better on rougher paper. I’m learning to paint smaller. I have a commission for a mermaid with full tail showing. This is just practice for that painting, this one looked a lot better before I painted over her and ruined her hair and face also (compared to how it was). I’m excited to get better at smaller details though.
