This reminded me of one of my funniest memories which was when one of my friends told me that I was such a calming presence at her wedding and that I was always there to offer something or help with whatever she needed and I was such wonderful, quiet support. And I was just thinking girl I am SO glad you interpreted my sensory overwhelm shutdown and standing around awkwardly and offering to help at every opportunity because I didn't know what to do as me being a calming and helpful presence ๐ THANK GOD. the artemis ii mission reminds me why i love humanity so much. they play pink pony club for the astronauts. they have issues with microsoft outlook. one of the astronauts named a moon crater after his late wife. a jar of nutella just flew by. they make 67 memes because theyโre big nerds with huge hearts who say that we look beautiful from there. they call dibs on sleeping arrangements and the mission specialist likes sleeping like a bat. the pilotโs daughter shows her dad off on her social media.
dunno just sometimes helps to think that we can do things like that.

randomly getting intensely interested in some bullshit like
it's not acknowledged enough that a lot of the sleep deprivation, a really big number, that is seen in children and teenagers is due to their parents. "my kid's up all night on their phone" and why exactly is that? because nighttime, the time when they're supposed to be sleeping, aka unconscious in bed, aka not causing you any trouble, aka unable to be immediately put to work by you, is so much of the time the only true "free time" they have. that's what it is. if the moment they step out of their room you give them something to do and berate them for breathing; if every moment they're in their room you're calling them out to do work, and then chiding them for trying to lock their door ... when is there a moment for them to just do what they want? to have fun? to be happy?
there isn't one. not unless they're awake when they're meant to be asleep.
