Lightships - Sweetness In Her Spark

there really has been an absurd number of really brilliant albums released this year already, and with so many of my favourite bands due to put records out in the coming months, 2012 is shaping up to be a year with a very high musical pedigree. the lightships album - gerard love from teenage fanclub's new band - is really pretty excellent. i have always liked his songs best in TFC, and an entire album's worth of his tunes certainly seemed like a pretty sweet prospect. so catchy, jangly, hummable and beautifully produced, this will definitely be in my year end list. highly recommended!

i was young once.

sold a flaming lips record on ebay. listed it as visually graded 'EX'. no returns accepted. it's a used record, so no way i was dealing with returns. i have sold dozens of records on ebay over the years and bought dozens too, so i know what the deal is when i sell/buy a used record. some moron who won that record says it skipped on one song and so he wanted half his money back. escalated it to ebay. told him i clearly stated no returns, that visual grading was subjective but i have worked in record stores for years and know what i am doing and that when i played the record i had no issues at all. he wouldnt budge. didnt reply to my messages. had to mail him 3 times before i got another reply. meanwhile paypal has frozen my account and deducted the money before a decision was made anyways. finally i escalated it myself to ebay and then today i get an email from them saying they went in the buyers favour. seriously, what the fuck? this is absurd. i listed that item in good faith; accurately and honestly. if he was that bothered by the so-called skip, then why did he want to keep it? oh yeah, cos there was no skip but he wanted to get his $60 record for $30 instead. what an asshole. apparently he wants to send me it back, now. but i bet he wont send it recorded post from the US and who knows if i will ever see it again. i don't even want the fucking record. i just want the money that was rightfully mine and was paid to me in a deal that clearly stated NO RETURNS.

bit of a quiet week on the ol' itunes...mainly cos i was either travelling, asleep or at work. and what little time i did have, i couldn't see much point in listening to anything other than jonquil.
