If not then let me share a very sad connection I made. In this Lucrecia moment she says about her baby (Sephiroth):

“watashi no kawaī kodomo”

This means along the lines of “My cute baby…” or “my sweet little child.” The use of “kawaī” by Lucrecia is the key point because it shows her affection. “Kawaī” is used for cute little things like a kitten or darling baby.

Now here is what the dream version of Lucrecia in The First Soldier calls Sephiroth:

可愛いセフィロス。こっちへいらっしゃい。

“Kawaī Sephiroth. Come here.”

She fawns over her son with a phrase like “Cute, little Sephiroth” and then hugs him. You can interpret it as “sweet” or “darling” as well and that’s how they came up with “my sweet little boy.” It works just fine because “kawaī” is for precious little things.

He definitely inherited her anxiety and occasional depression bouts. Sephiroth has been suppressing his emotions most of his life, but internally, he often suffers from the same exhausted defeatism of his mother. He's a huge worrier, especially when it comes to his friends. And much like Lucrecia, he doesn't take care of himself whenever he's going through a rough patch.

He WAS sharing the Jenova cells with Lucrecia when he was inside her, hence her physical immortality. So they are linked together in a pseudo-physic manner. It isn't just that Sephiroth desires his mother simply because he was denied her at birth--that's ALREADY pretty horrifying--but also because he constantly senses her, constantly feels her. They were linked together and then suddenly ripped apart. Imagine a constant sensation of incompletion, feeling like you KNOW someone who doesn't exist, the need for Reunion, but you have no idea why it's happening or what it means. A piece of you is missing, a piece of you that is already tainted with anguish and longing and feelings of love and need that you'll never come to know. Something is wrong. And you are all alone. And there is a constant harrowed sensation inside you that reminds you of what was lost...and yet never fully realized.

Whenever Sephiroth's transport airship passes over the region that hosts Lucrecia's cavern, there's always a faint tingle in his chest. A sudden rawness he can't place, tugging at him, burning. He reaches for it, presses his hand to his heart, confused at the sudden slickness in his eyes, the broken ache in his pulse.

The chocobo chicks are so friend-shaped!! The most correct thing Rebirth did was let us pet them.
