For those mourning the supposed disappearance of Evil Paper: I would not automatically assume that he has vanished forever (if not in canon, then in fan works). Fusion is not necessarily permanent -- especially when considering exceedingly stressful environments -- and the inherently corrupt nature of Inanimate Insanity exerts strain on everyone. Paper appeared to be at peace with Evil Paper by the end of IIS1Re13; therefore, if he began to experience a "re-split," I do not believe he would react with utter consternation and desperate resistance. He would be surprised, sure, but he would still accept the important role Evil Paper has played in protecting him from legitimate outside threats. And given how passive the contestants have become in IIS4, his brand of direct confrontation is just what they require right now.
Then again... the remaster timeline technically isn't relevant to the main series (in a weirdly conveyed sense that still confuses me and other members of our fandom). Then again²... even in the main timeline, EP could return from Crushed Piano Territory at any moment. So many possibilities! This is where I beg for the fan works to save me. Save me, fan works.

"Parasocial" getting collapsed into "thinks the e-celeb is your personal friend" is understandable given how common that particular version of it is, but there are definitely a lot of subtle and really common ways to be parasocial out there that go unnoticed while doing harm, such as looking at the theming of someone's online presence and assuming they must be Like That offline too.
Gotta always keep in mind that chances are the blog that only posts about Pokemon or whatever is run by a person who has a bunch of different interests offline and just uses the blog as their designated outlet for that one interest.
You look at a blog that's just endless posts about Pikachu, and conclude that the person running it is Obsessed With Pikachu.
The person running the blog logs on for half an hour sometimes, queues up a bunch of Pikachu posts, and then logs off. Doesn't even think about Pikachu outside that half hour.

Sorry to be a "let people enjoy things" guy but is this not a bizarrely corny way to talk about art?
like yeah i have encountered people online who think their ocs who exist in a contextless bubble deserve the same reverence as fully realized characters, and that mentality is annoying, but i don't actually think the end goal of all art is to became a webcomic, i think it's a perfectly fine if people want to flex their creative muscle by creating funky character designs with wacky backstories just for the joy of creation itself, like you don't have to be personally invested in it, but it's a bizarre way to moralize art especially coming from a group of people who otherwise seem to be against that?

Moving around my whole life and having lived in 7 states has made me keenly aware of the fact that everyone thinks their city/town is uniquely terrible in exactly the same ways. "Everyone acts nice but they hate you," "The weather here is so unpredictable," "It's so hard to make friends here," "The buses are never on time," "This town is full of the craziest people," girl that's every town. "No but it's worse here" look you can't all be the worst.
